What to Expect

❋ MUSIC

Experience the magic of music with our engaging playgroups led by Miss Linda! Each session features singing, dancing, storytelling, and instrument play, all designed to spark creativity and joy in young minds.

In a fun and nurturing environment, children will express themselves freely, develop musical skills, and foster a love for music. Together, we’ll embark on a musical adventure that promotes cognitive development, social skills, and emotional expression—all while having a great time!

❋ STORYTIME

Dive into the world of imagination with Miss Linda’s captivating Storytime sessions! Each of these original children’s books include a moral lesson and a song that we sing together!   These are delightful stories that inspire creativity and curiosity while fostering a love for reading.

Join our Early Childhood Playgroups, specially designed for caregivers of children from birth to 5 years old. With over 30 years of experience in early childhood creative enrichment curriculum development, implementation, delivery analysis, and measurable outcomes, the SGS playgroups offer the perfect way to introduce your child to key early learning elements. These vibrant playgroups "pop up" in your neighborhood at various local venues, such as businesses, community centers, and churches, schools and sports venues providing a fantastic opportunity to unite friends, families, neighbors, educators, and daycare providers in a fun and nurturing environment.

❋ ARTS AND CRAFTS

In our playgroups, children engage in intentional play that supports several key areas of childhood development, including all the Core Competencies.  We further enrich the playgroup experience with visual and hands-on arts and crafts components, where children can explore their creativity and express themselves through various mediums.

❋ SPECIAL GUESTS

Additionally, we invite visiting artists to share their talents and engage children in unique creative projects

❋ ANIMAL FRIENDS

Our playgroups also feature animal friends, providing opportunities for children to learn about and interact with various animals, fostering a sense of curiosity and empathy.

❋ COMMUNITY SHARING

Lastly, we encourage community sharing, where families can come together to exchange experiences, resources, and ideas, enhancing the sense of connection within our community.

  • From A Playgroup Mom:

“Even on the weeks when she wasn’t quite comfortable being loud and proud, I could tell she was absorbing all of the fun songs and exercises, because she’d be singing in the car on the way home - and for days after that! After our first few weeks, and at just 18 months old, she started asking me to sing “Do Re Mi Fa Sol La Ti Do” (solfège), and she would sing right along and try to do the movements. When there was a special opera edition of playgroup last spring, I was totally unprepared for how much my little one would LOVE the opera. My timid toddler was the only child standing and clapping during the performance and moving her body as if she were part of the production. It was the most adorable thing ever. I am so grateful to Joint Initiatives and Ms. Linda with the Simple Gift Series Program for introducing my girl to what I am sure will be a lifelong love for music. And who knows, maybe one of these days she’ll pursue a career as an opera singer. ;)”
